This 1959 Thunderbird was purchased brand new in the fall of 59 from Macklin Motors in Calgary Alberta. The original owner had the vehicle until the late 70s and then parted ways with the vehicle.
This car has been pampered. It was only repainted once. It was a very rare color for the color pallet of the year, 1959. The Original Ford factory color was Cordovan. The vehicle was purchased new (demo) from Macklin Motors, Calgary, 1959. It was traded in 1971, and found in an Auto Trader advertisement in 1988 and bought back by the son of the original Owner.
He subsequently did the restorations necessary to put it back into show condition, and won many trophies, plaques and awards at shows throughout the lower BC mainland. This car was featured in a television program….History of Cars….September 2017. All the many awards and trophies, original mechanics manual, restoration album, DVD of this TV show in which it was featured, plus numerous other pieces of provenance will go with the car.
Factory options include Power steering, power brakes, console range radio, fender skirts, windshield washer, magi care heater, and dealer-installed continental kit, Cruise-0-Matic.
Additionally, after being reacquired, it was refurbished with restored 352 V-8, rear shocks were adjusted. Pretty much original, including the interior, pretonics ignition system, front brakes disc…upgraded from drum, wipers motors upgraded from vacuum assist. The original radio still works !!
Running gear is completely restored and the vehicle has 90% original parts
Sept 2009 appraisal numbered this car an 8.5/10, and appraised at $28,750 in 2009 !! 14 years later this car would be appraised well above $35,000.

The front left tire is off getting re-sealed. There was a vinyl roof on it at one point but it has been taken off. The engine has been removed and disassembled and some parts have gone missing over the years. The biggest missing pieces are heads and camshaft but mostly everything else is here. The body has very little rust on it because it’s been living in a garage for 30+ years. Some of the chrome around the windshield was removed but I still have it and it’s fasteners. The odometer says 23111 miles. It might have rolled over once, I’m not sure. The interior is in excellent shape with only the drivers door arm test having some cracking on it. Has 4 power windows and power seats. The paint is as faded as one might expect being 59 years old. The VIN # is 4y872125779. I’d like to see it go to someone who really wants it and knows what to do with it.
